A common question our team gets asked about Fabric Structures is whether or not they are portable.
We classify our structures as ‘Semi-Permanent’; this means they are able to remain in a fixed location for a certain period of time, which can range from months to years and even decades. They are also, however, designed to be easily dismantled and relocated if the client wishes to do so.
With that said, they are not portable in the way a tent or marquee is – Fabric Structures are rigorously engineered to withstand harsh weather conditions and constructed using high-grade steel and industrial tarp fabric. Installation of these Shelters, while easier than the installation of a steel shed or other traditional permanent structure, generally requires machinery such as cranes and scissor lifts.
Fabric Structures offer a ‘best of both worlds’ approach for many businesses; a fully engineered, durable Structure, that can still be relocated if required. Although there is a much higher level of flexibility than that offered by traditional structures, to describe a Fabric Structure as ‘portable’ would be misleading.
If a high level of moveability is necessary for your project needs, the team at DomeShelter Australia are able to work with each client on a case-by-case basis to determine what design can best fulfil your needs. For a standard size Shelter up to 12mx12m, the rule of thumb is generally around 8 hours to dissemble and reinstall by a 3 person team. When in doubt, it’s best to get in touch with an expert who can give you advice based on your specific needs.
