Located in Greenbushes in the Southwest of Western Australia, the Talison-owned Greenbushes Lithium Mine is the largest hard-rock lithium mine in the world. At the mine’s current size, it can fulfil a third of worldwide demand for lithium spodumene concentrate, which is used to produce lithium hydroxide, a component of lithium-ion batteries.
As of 2018, Talison was operating the Greenbushes mine at only 60% of its total capacity, and it is estimated that if the facility were operated at 100% capacity it could fulfil total global lithium demand by itself.
A number of subsidiary and sub-contracted companies are involved in the operation of the Greenbushes Mine, each with their own unique duties and infrastructure requirements.
DomeShelter Australia has been approached by a number of the companies involved in the Greenbushes Mine operation to provide Fit-For-Purpose Shelter Solutions that protect people and assets, dramatically improving the efficiency and effectiveness of works on-site.
Talison Lithium
Talison Lithium owns and runs the Greenbushes Lithium Mine and manages its core operations. They approached DomeShelter Australia for a large DomeShelter™ Structure to use for heavy machinery maintainence.
DomeShelter Australia provided a Structure consisting of two interconnected 15m wide by 18.3m long Container Mounted DomeShelter™ Structures with a guttering system. One is a Super Rise shelter to allow for large dump trucks to be parked within.
Kerman Services
Kerman Contracting are one of the most experienced design and construction firms in Western Australia, specialising in bulk storage/material handling facilities, non-process infrastructure, industrial facilities and accomodation villages.
During a construction project involving the Crushing Facility at the Greenbushes Mine, Kerman contacted DomeShelter Australia for a temporary Shelter Solution. DomeShelter Australia provided a proven and durable 12m wide by 12.2m long DomeShelter™ Structure to fulfil their needs.
B&J Catalano
B & J Catalano offer end-to-end earthmoving, bulk haulage, bulk earthworks and civil contracting solutions to clients. They typically work with companies in the mining sector.
They required infrastructure for their operation in Greenbushes, servicing Talison Lithium’s open-pit Greenbushes mine.
Having worked with DomeShelter Australia for many years, B & J Catalano knew who to trust for a durable, Fit-For-Purpose Shelter Solution. The DomeShelter™ Team provided a 12m wide by 12.2m long Container Mounted DomeShelter™ Structure for the project.
Additionally, Catalano had two DomeShelter™ Structures at mine sites elsewhere in Western Australia that were no longer required at those locations. Thanks to the unique, modular design of Genuine DomeShelter™ Structures, they were able to pack these Shelters down into kit form and transport them to the Greenbushes site for reassembly.
ECM
ECM is one of Australia’s premier electrical and instrumentation (E&I) contractors. They are a leading Construction and Maintenance company servicing the Mining, Oil & Gas, Infrastructure and Power Generation sectors.
ECM were contracted to construct a standalone Chemical Grade Plant (CGP2), and associated crushing and screening circuit, at the Greenbushes Lithium Mine.
To assist in completing this large-scale project, ECM required a durable Shelter Solution to provide storage space and protect their people and assets from the elements. DomeShelter Australia provided an 8m wide by 6.05m long DomeShelter™ Structure to ECM.
