Incitec Pivot runs manufacturing facilities around the globe, specialising in the manufacture of a wide range of explosives, fertilisers and industrial chemicals. The company dates back to 1919 and has been in operation for over 100 years.
Incitec is Australia’s largest supplier of fertilisers, dispatching around two million tonnes each year for use in Australia’s grain, cotton, pasture, dairy and horticulture industries. They mainly support farmers across eastern Australia, from far north Queensland down to Tasmania.
Incitec contacted DomeShelter Australia in 2019, seeking a very large bulk storage Structure for their facility at Phosphate Hill in Queensland. The Phosphate Hill site is the largest fertiliser plant in Australia, with an annual capacity in excess of 950,000 metric tonnes.
The Shelter needed to be completely watertight. The area is prone to flooding, and a designated weatherproof facility was needed to protect product that couldn’t be moved from the site if railway tracks were flooded and closed.
DomeShelter Australia supplied a Container Mounted DomeShelter™ Structure measuring 23m wide by 292m long. It remains the longest DomeShelter™ Structure we have manufactured, measuring almost as long as the Empire State Building is tall.
Fully enclosed with Endwalls and doors, the large Shelter protects huge stores of product from even the harshest weather conditions.
