Panafrican Equipment Group is a leading supplier of Komatsu, Metso and AGCO equipment, operating in a number of African countries. They provide machinery and equipment, as well as aftersales support solutions, to the mining, agriculture and forestry, civil and infrastructure, and power and energy sectors.
One of the mines serviced by Panafrican Equipment is the Tarkwa Gold Mine in Ghana’s Western Region.
They required a new Vehicle Workshop to support the servicing of their fleet of Heavy Vehicles at the mine, including Komatsu dump trucks.
DomeShelter Australia has over a decade of experience partnering with Africa’s mining industry to provide fully engineered, durable, relocatable infrastructure solutions for a range of applications.
The DomeShelter™ Team designed and manufactured a fit-for-purpose Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Bay to support Panafrican Equipment’s operations at the Tarkwa Gold Mine. The project scope included full facility delivery, consisting of two 21m wide by 18.3m long hot dip galvanised Truss Super-Rise Fabric Shelters mounted on double stacked GP Sea Containers.
The result is a very large Maintenance Bay, with ample height clearance to allow for even extremely large mining vehicles to be worked on undercover; the Super-Rise roof Structure combined with double stacked containers means that a Komatsu HD 1500 Dump Truck could lift its tray inside the Shelter with height clearance to spare.
The project was manufactured, delivered from Western Australia to Ghana, and installed by local contractors in just a few months. Panafrican Equipment’s mining fleet is now able to be maintained year-round at Tarkwa Gold Mine, with people and assets kept safe from the hot summer sun and the monsoon season’s wet conditions.
