My name’s Mark McEwan and I’m a design engineer here at DomeShelter Australia.
One of the questions we get asked is, do the Structures need hold down and what are the hold down requirements?
Now, all DomeShelters do need hold down in one form or another, that can be achieved by various options. There’s concrete footings, you can use ballast inside the containers, some people choose earth anchors, screw piles, micro pile designs, there are various options. Sometimes even a combination if these options can be used depending on the availability of what’s on site or what might be easily transportable to site. Some places we may even require a minimised environmental footprint, that’s where options like precast blocks above ground may be the best option in this case.
